Landlords Satellite installer permission form

We have created a Landlord permission form for satellite installers by renters. This form is unlike the ones used by directv and dish which protect only the installer allowing him to do most anything he wants to modify the home.

This form protects the landlord while complying with the FCC zoning rules. It informs the installer how he is to install the dish to prevent damage to the property. If you rent any property you need to have a copy of this form to stop improper satellite installs like this one that some hack did on one of our rent houses.

The installer installed the dish on the roof on a rental the renter did not even live in and draped the wire across the roof.

Landlords you need to protect yourself from these incompendent installers that the satellite companies are now hiring. You can not have wires running across roofs driveways and laying on the ground and you can not allow any dishes on the roof. The FCC allows you to select the location as long as its in a place that has line of site to the satellite. You should never sign a standard permission form given to you by the installer.

Well you should not do it because they ask for it you should require it so your roof will not get damaged and start leaking. What they will do is install it like the photo so when it leaks it won’t run in the house it will run into the eave that way you won’t notice it.

You should never sign the blanket forms they have which let them do anything they want.

Here is part 2 of the above story. The DirectTv installer came back and when I told him where to place it on a pole he said it had no line of sight.

It was really funny. I was prepaired for this.
I went straight to my truck pulled out a DTV Dish with my signal meter set it on the ground aimed it at the proper satellite and connected it to the wire running to the TV and went inside and turned on the TV and asked him how it was working if it had no line of sight? He tried to run away before the TV got booted up.

He admitted it would work said he did not have a signal meter like I did but refused to install it while I was here because I knew more about installing dishes than he did (said he had another call) so he came back later and placed it where I wanted it on a pole. He still did not bury the wire. Never did get them to pay for damages took it out of renters deposit.

Do not let these installers get away with telling you it must go on the roof.

What landlords really need is to find the locations on your property where Dish and Direct dishes will work so you will know if they are telling you the truth or not.
