Cnnecting to XP or Vista from Windows 10 file Sharing solved. Yes really!
I have searched everywhere for years and tried all the fixes but nothing has worked until I stumbled on a fix when I was trying to access the files on my security dvr.
The problem is XP,vista,Winn 7, Winn 8 and Windows 10 cant see the computer names between each other so you have to trick them to get a connection.
I have no ideal why microsoft never told us this but its very simple all you have to do is use the IP of the computer you want to connect to NOT ITS NAME!
Now why did all the great tech sites never tell us this???????
Because they did not know only I know this. Im sure they will copy me.
Go to explorer and where the path name is enter the ip of the computer you want to connect to. Example \\192.168.0.1 Dont enter http just \\
Low and behold it will work instantly (NO MATER WHICH WINDOWS VERSION IT IS) if file sharing is on.
Connect to xp directories file sharing from any Windows 10 pc!
Now you can map those folders as drives and it will stay connected.
But you need to go in your router and reserve IPS for all you computers so they wont change IPS.
Simple fix . You found it here it is the winnfreenet.com method.Published on: Jan 7, 2016
