Voom Antenna ConversionFor customers who removed the Voom receive and still have the antenna why waste it why not use it?You can use the VHF/UHF antenna mounted on your roof to receive both analog & digital signals by connecting the wire to your TV set. Some Voom antennas looked like the one to the right but many other types were also used. All require a 12 or 14 volt DV voltage injector to power the amp at the antenna. You should be able to get such a power sup. at your local radio shack. Voom antennas were wired into the dish wire using a special diplexer. The diplexer can stay or be removed it doesn't matter all you need is a wire from the antenna to the 12 v DV voltage injector and then a wire from that to your TV. If you now have another type of Satellite Dish you can use the special diplexer to connect the antenna to your sat wire. You will use a normal diplexer to extract the TV signals near your set. The special diplexer is special because unlike normal diplexers it has a voltage regulator which takes voltage from your sat line and sends it to the antennas preamp. The diplexer has 5 connectors. 2 Sat in's and 2 Sat out's and a ANT. If you only want to use it at 1 tv do not use the #2 sat in and out connectors. Cap them off. The antenna shown (winegard) is a very good analog & digital TV antenna
that will receive up to about 40 miles. For those of you who want to add the antenna to an existing dish we still have voom antennas and bent poles in stock. |
